How 1 class taught me more than a 4 year degree
Going to college was never part of my plan. In fact, I didn’t want to go at all. But my mom asked me to try it, so I reluctantly agreed. I walked into my first class at 18 years old, ready to give it a shot, even though I wasn’t excited about it at all.
I remember sitting in class, listening to the teacher drone on about something I didn’t care about, and thinking, “This isn’t the path for me.” I felt a deep sense of unease. At the same time, I was a little afraid because I knew that choosing a different path would be hard. I had no idea what I would do and was worried about what other people would think. But I was also excited about the possibility of creating something better, something that truly felt like mine.
It didn’t take long for me to realize that college wasn’t for me. After just one class, I knew deep down that continuing on this journey would only take me further from where I was supposed to go.
So, I made a bold decision. I dropped out.
At first, it was scary. I am sure my parents weren't thrilled and I didn’t have a plan about what to do next. I had no idea what the future would look like. But looking back, that one class taught me something a four-year degree never could: the importance of following my instincts and pursuing the path I was meant to take.
I spent the next 3 years working odd jobs, delivering food, and even mowing lawns, anything to pay the bills while I figured out my next steps. During that time, I immersed myself in learning how to build an online business and create a life I’d be proud of.
Fast forward to today, and that decision to trust myself has been the foundation for everything I’ve built. It wasn’t easy, but it taught me that the courage to step off the beaten path often leads to the most rewarding journeys.
This week, I’m incredibly excited to share that I’ve launched the first episode of my podcast. In this episode, I share my full story—how one college class and a leap of faith changed the course of my life, and the lessons I learned along the way.
I would love for you to give it a listen, and if you like it, I’d be honored if you subscribed to the podcast. Your support means the world to me.
